Seven days that carry you from the granite hills of Dundgovi to the ice canyon of Yolyn Am, the singing dunes of Khongor and the flaming red cliffs of Bayanzag.
We drive four to five hours a day at most. The rest of the time belongs to hikes, camel rides and visits with herder families. Every night is spent in a ger camp.

Улаанбаатараас Бага газрын чулууUlaanbaatar to Baga Gazriin Chuluu
We leave the city early and reach the granite massif of Baga Gazriin Chuluu by midday. An easy hike leads past a ruined hermitage and shallow caves. At sunset the view from the rocks stretches over the open plain, the first gift of the trip.
A morning drive brings us to the Three Beauties range. Walking the narrow gorge of Yolyn Am you can find ice even in midsummer, with bearded vultures overhead and ibex on the cliffs. We camp on the southern slopes.

Today we enter the true heart of the Gobi. The Khongor dunes run for 180 kilometres and rise up to 200 metres. In the evening we visit a camel-herding family at the foot of the sands.

A camel ride along the edge of the sands in the morning, rest in the afternoon, then the climb: before sunset we walk the ridge of the highest dune. The evening wind makes the sand hum, which gives the dunes their name. The view from the crest is unforgettable.

A century ago the first dinosaur eggs known to science were found here. The red sediment cliffs catch fire at sunset. We walk through the saxaul forest across what was once an ancient sea bed.

Heading north we reach the monastery ruins on the Ongi river, once home to over a thousand monks. Another layer of Gobi history opens here. We spend our last desert night by the river.
After breakfast we begin the drive home, passing the Elsen Tasarkhai sand strip on the way, and reach the city by evening. We drop you at your hotel or at the airport.
